Word Vault: Vocabulary Builder App Reviews

This new version has succeeded at perfection: Clean & precise graphics, great preference settings, so easy to use, far better a reviewing tool with definitions given upfront and fill in the word, even images to pair with your words, helps you find words, source & notes included, the MUST HAVE word reviewer and Ive bought them all, yet this is the only one still on my phone. This version is not only superior as a tool, but absolutely beautiful to look at. Even the sounds are seamless. I thought they forgot about this app, even though still I always used it, but the update is an all-together different, beautiful, and perfect app!!! No one could be disappointed and I know how big that statement is, but they DID IT!!!

I rarely write reviews, but this app is truly phenomenal! So well thought out and very intuitive. Im surprised it hasnt one an editor choice award!

Really love the concept of this app, but I would really like to see some kind of cloud based storage available via Dropbox or iCloud so that I can see words on all my devices and so that my list is backed up...great work!

I was so tired of looking up words on my kindle only to forget them a few days later, so I started using this app. I love it! I do a review session every day and it is super helpful. My only wish is to see the words used in a sentence. Sometimes I learn the definition, but Im still unsure how to actually use the word.

This app is a game changer for vocabulary building. Its the perfect partner for when youre reading a book and stumble across a word you dont now and think, "I really oughta know what that means." Its a sound database to keep the words you are learning and would like to learn all in one place with a built-in review. If there is one thing I would suggest, It would be to add a feature where the words can be reviewed not only by reading the definitions and then guessing the word, but also by reading the words and then guessing the definitions-more like a flash card. If this would be added, it would keep me from having to use this app in tandem with an app like Brainscape, and would be an all-in-one powerhouse. The images also seem to load rather sporadically as opposed to loading one for every word which would be massively helpful. With all that said the app is beautifully executed, its a fantastic idea for learning and encourage the developers to continue with the updates!

For my needs this was more than i expected, very quick and responsive,great app. for my young grandchildren(6,8 an 11).

Terrific app for learning and keeping track of new words. Only thing Id like to see is iCloud support so I can sync words across devices.

Its really useful in my general life as well as my private life. I spend my time writing essays and working on short stories. I need the occasional quick reminder of diction so it helps quite a bit.

Word Vault is an app that is both beautifully designed and actually helpful. I am very happy with it!

5-star app with 3-star definitions. Look up a word in this app--say, "perfunctory"--then in the Merriam Websters or American Heritage and see how much richer it is in the latter. Of course thats not the point-- the object here is to learn vocabulary, nuances of which can be discerned later. I just know it could facilitate word retention if I could delve into more specificity, or etymology in the process.

I love this app. Plain and simple. I have always been quick to look up definitions almost on a daily basis as I hear and use words, and Word Vault couldnt be a better tool to help feed the vocabulary beast within. Type in any word and it immediately brings up definitions, synonyms and antonyms, and an audio example. Whats more, the app makes saving all the words I search as easy as one tap, which of course speaks to the "Vault" part of the app name. The settings allow me to have the app notify me to do a review of any number of words from my vault however often I choose, from 0 days a week to 7. I initially didnt want to be bugged by another app reminding me of something, but once I realized how cool the app is and that it isnt going to constantly hit me up for money masked as a "review reminder" I enabled the reviews. 5 stars without a doubt. Anyone who uses any sort of dictionary app or is interested in growing their own personal vocabulary base will love this app.

NEEDS BETTER DICTIONARY!! This app is elegantly designed, and for the most part it works very well, but the dictionary is totally lacking! iOSs built in dictionary is much more comprehensive than this app that costs $5. This is very frustrating and shouldnt be the case. Their is little to no etymologies given. Many words dont even show up. The word review feature is killer if it was only backed up by a f**kin half way decent dictionary. The app has one job! Couldnt they just use the definitions your iPhone already provides you with?! Please please please improve the dictionary in your DICTIONARY app. If they could deliver what is promised then the app would easily be worth the money. I want this app to be good, I like building up my word vault! Dont let us down, youre almost there!

Great app! I use it while reading to capture, learn, and retain words. I like that you can select "favorite" words and the whole quiz process. The only improvement I would suggest is to expand on the definitions to include more examples of the words in sentences and include an option to reveal synonyms and antonyms.

I dont normally leave reviews, but I love this app. This is the kind of idea which fulfills a basic need but does it in a simple and very effective way. Its not overly complicated unnecessarily and it allows you to very simply save words youd like to learn, recall, and use more often. Just what I was looking for. Thank you to the devs for a job well done.
